Concrete Languages on Virtual Platforms
The talk Herb Sutter gave at OOPSLA 2004 is now available online. In Concrete Languages on Virtual Platforms, Sutter talks about the challenges and benefits of combining "concrete languages" (i.e. C++) with garbage collected virtual machine runtime environments (i.e. .NET).
I'm still not convinced that the benefits of C++/CLI are worth the additional complexity, but it's an interesting talk nevertheless and well worth a visit – even though you'll need to use the evil browser to see it.
